Travel

After attending Infant school in Long Buckby, nr Northampton we moved to Ascension Island in the South Atlantic Ocean. A volcanic island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean just below the equator. It is only 7 miles by 5 and home to around 1000 inhabitants. A whole new experience for me going to a new country so different to England. The temperature could be around 90 - 100 degrees most days. There was a very relaxed lifestyle and extremely hot weather meant frequent visits to the beach.
A picture of Green Mountain taken from Sisters peak is shown above and the village of Two Boats where I lived for five years. The photo opposite shows a view from the top of Green Mountain showing the contrast in vegetation. I have also travelled to Canada and Tenerife breifly, USA, France, Belguim, Spain, and South Africa.

Education

After completing my GCSE's at The Henry Beaufort school in Winchester, I decided to continue my education at Peter Symonds College where I completed A-Levels in Computing, Geography and Graphical Communication. The same college where Jack Dee studied!

I'am currently reading BSc Computing Studies at The Nottingham Trent University where I'am due to start my placment year soon. I have really got down to work now, after not really performing well in the previous semester. This past semester I have studied Advanced Program Design, Formal Methods, Fuctional Prgramming, Business Computer Interaction, Case Tools, and a Group Project into Monitoring the Environment of which I covered Volcanology.

Current Work

For this academic year I wil be working for Lucent Technologies in Malmesbury, near Swindon for my placement year.

Sport

I enjoy various sports, particularly Mountain Biking, Badminton and Football. I support Southampton FC and attend matches whenever I can. I followed Saints to the Zenith Data Systems Cup Final in 1992 which we unfortunately lost 3-2 to Nottingham Forest. This new season looks promising after some sensible signings from the manager David Jones and the success last season.

Music

I attended the Dance day at the Essential Music Festival in 1997, where I saw among others The Chemical Brothers, Spooky, The Propellerheads and The Aloof. The Big Beat Boutique was the best tent, this is where I really got into the Big Beat scene. Along with the Mary Anne Hobbs show on Radio 1 where the Breezeblock features all the best big beats. I have also seen Leftfield, Daft Punk, Tangerine Dream, Massive Attack and Echo & The Bunnymen.
I attended Creamfields in Winchester in May, the first of this years dance festivals where I saw an excellent DJ set from the Chemical Brothers. I'am also into acid jazz such as D*Note, Uriel, The Ballistic Brothers, Black Jazz Chronicles, Black Science Orchestra, DJ Food, plus records on Ninja Tune, Mo Wax, and Internal Bass. The 1970's stuff like the Booker T's & The MG's is also a sound I enjoy. I like various types of music depending on what mood I'am in, one of my favourite bands is Salt Tank who make trance and chill out melodic dance music. I run the Unofficial Salt Tank website which resides here http://www.surf.to/saltank

Food

I was diagnosied as having the coeliac condition several years ago, this means that I'am alergic to gluten which is a protien contained in wheat flour. This means that I'am on a gluten free diet for life, which was difficult at first to get accustumed to, but have now got used to it. The most annoying ommision from my diet is BEER ! Cooking for myself at Univeristy means I can makesure that I stick to the diet, however it is a little more difficult when going out for meals.
